DNA grill ...

Why are you always surrounded by controversies? Is it just a publicity-seeking ploy?
The last thing I want to begin my career with is negativity. So far in my life, I have come up with my own potential. I have been a success at whatever I have done.

So why would I need controversies to get me fame? Although this is disheartening, I am beyond them.

How do you justify all the claims against you, like your various changes in name?
I don’t think I need to justify myself because all the allegations are false and I would rather not talk about it. My name is Nikii Daas, I am Bengali and my grandfather was Ashok Daas. He converted to Christianity and called himself John D’souza, so Nikii Daas and Nikii D’souza are both me and it’s completely justified. The other names would be gifts by some well-wishers of mine.

Why have you chosen not to react to any of the allegations on threatening producers Kalyani and Mansingh Deep?
A lotus is a lotus even in filth and I believe a lotus should behave like one. As a human being, I cannot get down to their level. These things have a legal procedure and I am letting my legal advisors do their job.

I believe truth will prevail, besides people are intelligent and will believe in facts. And yes, I would rather concentrate on my work than waste my time on these false allegations.

Do you think models are just dumb clothes horses?

A model is expected to exhibit whatever outfit, jewellery or commodity they are hired to advertise to the best of their ability. Even if this requires them not talking, as long as they are doing their job right, nothing else matters. Besides, aren’t some things better left unsaid.

Was winning the Gladrags competition a way to break into Bollywood?
Bollywood has always been my agenda; Gladrags was my first milestone.

With the recent Kingfisher swimsuit calendar in your portfolio, do you think you’ll be seen only as a sex object?
I see no issues in being called sexy. I take that as a compliment and I’m very proud about my association with the Kingfisher calendar…and if you knew me better, you would know that I have more to my personality.
