Padma Shri and multiple National Award-winning director Mani Ratnam has been hospitalised in Chennai on Thursday after he complained of chest pain.
According to reports, the director was taken to a private hospital after the chest pains started. The legendary director is reportedly in a stable condition and the doctors are treating him.
But according to Mani Ratnam's PRO the director visited the hospital for a regular health check-up. More details about the filmmaker's condition are awaited.
Reportedly, several actors, directors from Tamil film industry, and his close friends are visiting Mani Ratnam in the hospital.
Mani Ratnam has already survived a heart attack when he was shooting for Ajay Devgn, Abhishek Bachchan, and Vivek Oberoi's Yuva in 2004.
The chest pains returned in 2009 and then again in 2015 when the director had to be hospitalised.
Mani Ratnam recently wrapped shooting for Chekka Chivantha Vaanam starring STR aka Simbu, Vijay Sethupathi, Arvind Swami, Arun Vijay, Jyothika, Aishwarya Rajesh, Aditi Rao Hydari and Dayana Erappa.
His last movie was Kaatru Veliyidai starring Karthi and Aditi Rao Hydari about a fighter pilot imprisoned in Pakistan.
