That’s the message of Ravi Chopra’s new TV show Pari Hoon Main
p_sapana@dnaindia.netRavi Chopra—the name behind blockbusters on the big and small screen—is coming up with yet another serial for the small screen.
Titled Pari Hoon Main (Star One), the serial is about how two girls—Nikki and Pari (the double role is played by Rashami Desai) bump into each other, exchange their identities, and begin living each other’s lives.
Talking about what inspired him to produce this show, Ravi says, “The script inspires people to dream and assures that if you dream, you will achieve them too.”
Incidentally, Ravi has cast new faces. Quiz him about this and he says, “We cast those who suited the role. We wanted actors who would look good in both the simple and glamorous look.”
Is he taking any precautionary steps this time so that his serial has a fair run unlike the last time when his multi-starrer Viraasat was pulled off air abruptly? “What precautions can one take?
The channel pulled off Viraasat so because they wanted to get Shah Rukh Khan on board (for Kaun Banega Crorepati 3). I hope the channel has learnt its lesson and this doesn’t happen again.”
So what trends does he foresee in TV this year? “I don’t believe in trends. I believe in making new paths. The saas bahu soaps are no longer the audience’s favourite and it is time to read the writing on the wall.”
Ask him what keeps him away from reality shows and he replies, “Nothing in particular. But unless something extraordinary comes up, reality shows don’t interest me.”
Lastly, ask him which medium he enjoys more and he modestly says, “It is a difficult question. I like both mediums because it allows me to tell stories.” And which role does he enjoy playing the most—being a producer or director? “Director,” he says adding “He makes the producer’s dream come true.”
