India calling:
Every young face that made his/her way to India finds the country extremely irresistible. The life, culture and friendly approach of many out here leaves them besotted. And Francesca is no exception. “My family moved to Goa six years back and almost three years back, I came to Mumbai with my boyfriend. Living here has been a great experience."
"It’s the diversity of this country that holds me in awe. Go down South and it’s completely different from what we have up North. I have travelled to different countries and till date, India is my favourite,” says Francesca who has worked in many commercials and has walked the ramp for designers like Vikram Phadnis, Delna Poonawalla, Rocky S and Maheka Miripuri.
On a ‘ramp’age:
Ask her what she enjoys the most and she quips, “I am lucky enough to get every possible exposure out here. However, it’s walking the ramp that I prefer any day. It’s a high in itself.” She claims to try her level best to mingle with everyone she works with since she thinks that’s most important to be a successful professional.
Mumbai masti:
Having loads of work on hand, Francesca doesn’t let stress get the better of her. “When I am not working, I am off to Goa. I feel that’s very important considering life in Mumbai can get hectic at times when your body asks for that much-needed break,” she says.
So, did she face problems getting accustomed to a different culture? “At times it can be a problem. Even today, I am not that proficient in Hindi and hence, I am taking lessons to improve on my language skills. Whenever I go shopping, I manage to communicate with hand gestures that look funny. But never mind!” she laughs off.
