Indo-Pak celebs mourn qawwal Amjad Sabri's demise

Bollywood celebs like Alia Bhatt, Amit Trivedi, Ayushamann Khurana tweeted their condolences.

Alia Bhatt, Ayushmann Khurrana, Amit Trivedi, Mahira Khan and Ali Zafar are among the celebrities from India and Pakistan to pay tribute to renowned qawwal Amjad Sabri, who was shot dead on Wednesday.

The 45-year-old singer, of famed Sabri Brothers, was killed by unidentified motorcycle-borne gunmen today in Karachi, Pakistan.

"It's very unfortunate, heartbreaking and sad that something like this has happened to an artiste," actress Alia Bhatt told PTI.

Pakistani singer-songwriter Jimmy Khan wrote,

Amjad and an associate were travelling in a car in Karachi's Liquatabad 10 area when unidentified gunmen fired at their vehicle, critically injuring them. The two were rushed to Abbasi Shaheed hospital, where Amjad succumbed to his injuries. He was one of Pakistan's finest qawwals, known for his soul-stirring renditions of mystic poetry.
