Ajay Devgan, Kumar Mangat and Vishal Bhardwaj claim rivals are playing dirty.
Even while critics have lauded 'Omkara', actor Ajay Devgan, director Vishal Bhardwaj and producer Kumar Mangat are upset with rumours that the film is a flop. "How can it be declared a flop when even today it is running house full?" says Mangat, alleging that certain people in the industry are trying to sabotage his film.
Of course, he is not willing to reveal names just yet. "All possible means are being used to undermine our film," he claims, adding that women are being paid to walk out of the film. "Who can say heshe has not used swear words in hisher life? How can you say the film didn't work because of that?"
Devgan is equally peeved. "It is a dirty game. Some people are obviously not happy with the way the film has shaped up. They say the film is not being appreciated by kids, but it wasn't made for them. It is an adult movie. Certain people think such gimmicks work in their favour, but they're wrong," he fumes.
"I didn't know there were so many Iago's in real life too. I am amused and pained to see so much negativity. I think they are worried that the film will do well. I did not make this film for fame or money but for my own convictions, and it hurts to see that a lot of people won't let you do that."
Mangat, however, is upbeat about the fate of the film. "The film has made Rs 31 crore worldwide in just seven days. We have received a lot of support from other quarters," he clarifies.
A source close to the production unit says, "Ajay and Vishal didn't want to get into politics. Vishal always said I want my film to speak for itself. But if there are people in the industry who are purposely playing dirty, they feel they should fight back too. They suspect a couple of filmmakers whose movies are up for release behind all this."
