After a marathon 40-day shooting schedule in Shillong, Purab Kohli is all set to fly to UK to be in time for his baby daughter’s delivery. His fiancée Lucy Payton; a kundalini yoga and meditation teacher, is based in London.
Purab recalls, “It was a happy surprise when Lucy told me over the phone that she was pregnant. I was like ‘Wow’! Our baby is due on December 13. We are fully prepared for the baby. In fact, we had been longing to have a baby for a long time. The producers of Rock On 2 have been kind enough to finish one schedule and let me go to London in time for my baby’s birth.”
About getting married, he smiles, says, “By next year, when she -— yes, it’s a girl — is old enough to attend our marriage. Lucy and I are engaged and we were already talking about having a baby once we get married. Then she got pregnant and we decided to have the baby. I think no woman would like to attend their own wedding with a big stomach so that’s why the marriage has been planned for next year. We are both a serious about our relationship and want to be together but we both have been working on a tight schedule.”
While Purab will fly back in January next year before the release of Airlift, Lucy will move back to India after the baby is a few months old. “The baby won’t be able to fly till she’s a few months. We know the gender because in London they can legally tell you the gender of the baby. And the interesting thing is I always wanted a girl. We have finalised on some names.”
Going into flashback mode, Purab recalls their love story. He’d known for over a dozen years as she is his sister’s friend. “But we only started dating a couple of years ago. Lucy lives in England and we kept meeting on and off in India whenever she visited. Love bloomed during the time she came down to India for her training.”
