Jackie Shroff says that he never forgets the fact that he once lived in a chawl and he still has his friends there. “I never let myself forget where I have come from. I have my friends there and that is where I belong at the end of the day. I am a son of the soil and in my heart I will continue to be one all my life,” says Jackie.

Jackie says that he has worked very hard to reach where he is and that is the reason why he is content with whatever he gets in his life. “My early life has taught me to be happy with whatever I have. There was a time when I never had enough. So today, I think I have enough. There is not a single day when I think that I don’t have enough in my pockets. I am happy with whatever God has given me,” says Jackie.

The actor reveals that he never shies away from recognizing his buddies from the chawl whenever he spots them on the road or at an event. “I always ask them 'Kya chalraheli hai bhai? Sab kuchh jhakaas hai na biru?’ They sometimes try to hide themselves in the crowd but I seek them out all the time!

I remember I recently saw my childhood friend standing amongst the staff of the Governor. I came down from the stage, greeted him and had a good time chatting with him later on. That’s how I am and that’s what gives me a lot of pleasure,” he adds.

Apart from his film assignments, Jackie is now preparing for his television show which will be based on magic. “I have tried many magical tricks as a child and always used to wonder how the magicians would pull off a certain trick. It will provide a great platform to some good but unknown magicians in India,” he ends.
