Johnny Depp got hurt on the location for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales in Australia.
According to Variety magazine, the 51-year-old actor, who will be flown back to the US for surgery, was not working at the time of his injury, but how he hurt himself has not been disclosed yet. The production is not expected to be impacted by the star's absence largely, and will continue shooting scenes around Depp's character, Captain Jack Sparrow, for the next few weeks.
The fifth film in the franchise, also stars Javier Bardem and Brenton Thwaites, with "Kon Tiki" directors Espen Sandberg and Joachim Rønning at the helm, had begun shooting last month, and has been scheduled to release July, 2017.
