With his jet black wig and heavy make-up, the fans of Jude Law may find it hard to recognise the actor in his new film
Rage.
The actor plays a transvestite supermodel Minx in his latest film, which is a murder mystery set in the fashion houses of New York, the Daily Mail reported.
The film also stars Dame Judi Dench and Lily Cole as a starlet called Lettuce Leaf.
Director Sally Potter recently praised Law for his performance in the film.
"Jude Law, whose beauty has sometimes been held against him as an actor, made the courageous decision to accept the role of Minx - a celebrity super-model," Potter wrote on her blog.
"Strangely, the more he became a "she", coiffed and made-up - the more naked was his performance. There was great strength in his willingness to make himself vulnerable. It was an extraordinarily intense part of the shoot," she further wrote.
However, Law has traded his feminine look by getting a manly role in Guy Ritchie's film
Sherlock Holmes.
Talking about the film, the director said, "Part of the subject matter of Rage is the ugly use of beauty in the pursuit of profit. Drugged by marketing, sapped by fear of aging, conned by the cult of celebrity... image becomes all."
Bond actress Dench said the film was "without question, the most unusual piece of work I've ever done".
