Actor Karishma Tanna (Indu in ‘Kyunkii Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’) is on cloud nine. She has just joined the formidable cast of Ravi Chopra’s ‘Viraasat’. Karishma enthuses, “I play Natasha, a divorcee who has returned from abroad.

She happens to be Rohit’s (Rohit Roy) classmate in college who still has a crush on him. Coincidentally, she gets a job as Rohit’s secretary. Eventually this irks his wife (Sangita Ghosh).” She adds, “Like Bipasha Basu in ‘Corporate’,   I have worn jackets and trousers.”

Incidentally, Karishma was also part of the show ‘Pyar Ke Do Naam Ek Radha Ek Shyaam’ (Star Plus) where she played the ‘other woman’ and an NRI.

Karishma is also thrilled about making her theatre debut  with  director-actor Vandana  Sajnani’s play ‘The Perfect  Wedding’. “It’s a comedy. I play Rachel, a Christian bride opposite actor Vivaan Bhatena (of ‘Kumkum’ fame).

My character is half-Gujju and half-Christian. So I spontaneously add in a few lines in Gujrati. There is a spouse-swapping twist in the tale.” Karishma is confident that the play will boost her career.

She explains, “I will be recognised as an actor, because in a play there are no retakes. Making people laugh is seriously tough.” Ask her about what would be the perfect venue for a real-life wedding and she replies, “It has to be at a beach resort with the wind and waves.”
