Dulquer went on to add that he was extremely happy about the win which came for his recent film Charlie. The actor was quoted by the daily as saying that Charlie was a special film for him and that he was a part of it right from the beginning. He added that he did not find it difficult to transform into the character for the role of Charlie.

Dulquer also stated that it was an honour for him to be nominated in the same category as his father, Mammootty, for Best Actor. He felt that the state was promoting youngsters and he was happy about that.

Martin Prakkat who directed Charlie had said last year that the film was a musical romance. The focus of the story was the chemistry between the lead actors, it was not a straightforward romance and that's what made the film unique. Dulquer added that he missed actress Kalpana who passed away last month. Charlie was her last film.
