'Kumkum Bhagya's' Mrunal Thakur to work in 'Sultan'?

The popular star may have left the show to be the female lead for 'Sultan'.

The ouster of Mrunal Thakur from Kumkum Bhagya has not gone waste for the popular TV actress.If reports are to be believed, then actress Mrunal Thakur will be the leading star opposite Salman Khan in the upcoming film Sultan.

The film which was quite in news for being unable to find a female star opposite Salman Khan started rolling in November and is currently being shot in Karjat.It is known to all that names of many actresses from Deepika Padukone, Kriti Sanon, Parineeti Chopra to even newcomer Naaz, have been doing the rounds and until the casts are announced, more names will continue to crop up. 

According to BollywoodLife.com, Mrunal, who plays the role of 'Bulbul' in popular drama Kumkum Bhagya that airs on Zee TV, has been approached for the film. The report even quoted a source as saying, “Mrunal has been approached to play one of the two heroines in Sultan. At the moment, things aren’t finalised as yet.”

The report had also mentioned as to how the actress has quite the show Kumkum Bhagya as its plot revolved around the two lead characters, Shabbir Ahluwalia and Sriti Jha, and her character was also becoming somewhat stagnant.

Mrunal was even approached for Dangal before Sultan, as reported by Bollywood mantra.However, the actress refused to make any comment when asked if she was indeed doing ‘Sultan’.However, her perfectly timed exit from the show does raise questions for us. 

Salman essays the role of Haryanvi wrestler 'Sultan Ali Khan' in the movie which is being directed by Gunday director Ali Abbas Zaffar. The will next move to Mumbai for the second schedule of shoot that begins from January 18.

The film went on floors without finalising its female lead cast as producer Aditya Chopra had announced the release date of the film. Thus, to avoid further delays, the makers had started shooting the scenes for the film with Salman Khan. Salman  Khan has gained 14 kilos for the movie and has also undergone extensive training. Randeep Hooda will be playing Salman Khan's coach in the film.
