She’s been a veritable globetrotter. Her childhood was spent in Kuwait, her growing up years in New York and later, she landed up in Mumbai to make a career in movies.

For Seema Rahmani, the actor from the controversial ‘Sins’ and ‘Banana Brothers’, the journey has just begun. Fortunately, there are some good projects in her kitty. But her aim, she says, is to act in Hollywood films. A tête-à-tête with the actor…

People remember you for your controversial film ‘Sins’. Do you regret doing it?
What is there to feel bad about? For me, it wasn’t controversial for any reason. Some groups thought the movie was against their religion, but it was not  meant to be offensive.

Your co-star Shiney Ahuja is going places…
Yeah, he’s a sweet guy. He’s got the right look and talent to be a Bollywood hero.

We hear you’ve got two interesting movies. One’s with Shabana Azmi, right?
Yes, that’s an English ensemble film called ‘Loins of Punjab Presents’. It is about six contestants who take part in a singing competition. I am also doing Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Gulal’, where I play Kay Kay Menon’s mistress. Both are interesting films, but by and large, I guess I have not been getting the kind of roles that I want to do. My aim is to be in Hollywood in the next two years. They make movies that are of my kind. Hindi cinema is more fantasy, but we also do a great job here.

What are your types of movies then?
I like realistic movies. That’s why I am not sure whether I will be doing mainstream Bollywood movies or not. I don’t mind a comedy, as long as it has realistic elements.
