The Mumbai Cyber Police have arrested owner of the theatre based in Madhya Pradesh for allegedly leaking the movie online. The accused are the owners of the Prakash cinema based in Gwalior from where the movie was recorded and uploaded online.
The accused were brought to Mumbai on Tuesday morning. "We have arrested the owner of the Prakash Cinema and his son for leaking Force 2. They have been brought to Mumbai,"said Akhilesh Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (cyber police).
Earlier, the producers Viacom 18 had lodged a criminal complaint against film distribution company K Sera Sera Digital Cinema Ltd for allegedly leaking the prints of John Abraham and Sonakshi Sinha starrer Force 2. The movie was available in the form of links on various websites, police said.
The film was released on November 18 last year and was leaked on the same day online. An FIR was registered under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code and Information Technology act.
Viacom 18 officials had alleged that after the movie got released, it was found that Force 2 is available in full length on various websites for downloading and for online watching too and that had caused huge losses to Viacom 18.
"In November 2016, we had identified one attempt for piracy of the movie Force 2, then we had immediately terminated the contract as well as access to the digital server and had lodged the complaint against Prakash Cinema, Madhya Pradesh from where it was leaked. We had also intimated Viacom 18 about it via email," said spokesperson of K Sera Sera.
