Starring Vijay Sethupathi and Anurag Kashyap in the leading roles, the Tamil language action thriller Maharaja was released in the theatres on June 14. The film, directed by Nithilan Swaminathan, received phenomenal reviews from audiences and critics and emerged as a blockbuster.

Made in just Rs 20 crore, Maharaja went on to earn Rs 103 crore at the global box office and became the highest-grossing Tamil film of the year. Maharaja is Vijay Sethupathi's 50th film. It also starred Sachana Namidass, Mamta Mohandas, Natarajan Subramaniam, Abhirami, Aruldoss, Munishkanth, Manikandan, Singampuli and Bharathiraja.

Now, within a month of its release, the action thriller will have its streaming release on July 12 on Netflix. On Monday, the OTT giant made the announcement on its social media handles. The Netflix India's post was captioned, "When his “Lakshmi” is stolen, hidden secrets come to light. How far will Maharaja go to set things right? #Maharaja is coming to Netflix on 12th July in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi."

As soon as the announcement was made, fans shared their excitement in the comments section. One of them wrote, "More than Kalki 2898 AD, this movie satisfied me", while another wrote, "A must watch movie." "One of the best acting performances in Vijay Sethupathi sir's career", read another comment.
