“Majidi heard of Priyadarshan (who is making the Hindi remake) during his last visit to India and we are glad that a film-maker of his calibre is involved with the film. We are excited to see how the film has been adapted and are hoping to come to India in the first week of May,” says Reza Tashakkori, head of international affairs of Majidi Productions Co, in an email forwarded to DNA. Majidi’s staff says he is keen to see how the remake of the film fares at the box office even as sources say he has taken a keen interest in the making of the adaptation.“Majid has been in close touch and he has been kept in the loop about the developments in the film. He knows about the script and how exactly his film is getting remade,” says a source. The script, sources confirmed, were mailed to him for approval and the filming began only after Majidi gave a formal nod. This is the first ‘official remake’ of a foreign film that will be released in Bollywood even though many other remakes — like the remake of Step Mom — will release soon after. “It (the film starring Darsheel Safary) is an official remake of our film, Children of Heaven...We are keen to know how the film fares and have very high hopes of it,” Reza ends.
