'Manjhi: The Mountain Man' exempted from entertainment tax in Uttar Pradesh

The film's actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui and director Ketan Mehta met Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and requested him to exempt the movie from tax, the spokesman said.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav announced on Thursday that Ketan Mehata directed film 'Manjhi: The Mountain Man' starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui would be exempted from entertainment tax, an official spokesman said. Siddiqui and Mehta met the Chief Minister and requested him to exempt the movie from tax, the spokesman said.

Speaking on the occasion Akhilesh said that there were immense possibilities of film production in UP. He said the government has formulated an attractive and simple policy, which was promoting film production in the state.

The CM said that the new policy has attracted a number of producers to UP and fresh proposals were being received. He said that to promote film production work on two new film cities was underway.
