Rani Mukerji's 'Mardaani' might have had a slow start, given its strong content and low commercial value, but the positive responses to the film has helped it garner decent response at the box office.
The film, that deals with the dark alleys of women trafficking in India, is a compelling and a hard hitting tale on reality. The film did not have any heavyweight star other than a Rani Mukerji but it has simply worked on the basis of its merit.
Holding well on the weekdays, collecting in the range of Rs 2-3 crore each day, the film has already netted around Rs 23 crore in the first six days. The film which is made on a budget of Rs 14 crore has already recovered its production cost. Hence, it will be a total win-win situation from here onwards.
The film being exempted from entertainment tax in many regions too, has helped boost its returns.
