Beatles legend Paul McCartney's girlfriend Nancy Shevell is now divorced from her husband leaving her free to marry the musician.

Her divorce from wealthy lawyer Bruce Blakeman was made final last month.

Nancy's divorce was signed on December 2 and made final on December 9 in the US Supreme Court of the State of New York, mirror.co.uk reported.

McCarteny had earlier sparked wedding rumors when he had told friends that he wanted to marry the US heiress Nancy and reportedly said, "We are blissfully happy together."

McCartney's daughter, designer Stella McCartney has also approved of the relationship while she was openly critical of his disastrous and costly second marriage to Heather Mills.

Nancy, who has a 17-year-old son from her first marriage, spent Christmas in the UK with McCartney and his family and grew close to Stella over the period.

A regular at the Stella McCartney store in New York, Nancy has also been spending a lot of time with Paul's second daughter with Heather Mills -- five-year-old Beatrice.
