Trisha Krishnan, more popularly known as simply Trisha, is one of the biggest south Indian actresses. She was born into a Tamil Palakkad Iyer family on May 4, 1983, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. After making her acting debut in 1999, she has starred in multiple Tamil and Telugu hits such as Varsham, Ghilli, Aayutha Ezhuthu, Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa, Bodyguard, and '96 among others. Trisha even did a Bollywood film Khatta Meetha opposite Akshay Kumar in 2010, which failed at the box office.
In the last two years, the superstar actress starred in the three biggest blockbusters in her career. She played Kundavai in Mani Ratnam's period epic Ponniyin Selvan 1 and Ponniyin Selvan 2, released in 2022 and 2023. Both the films collectively grossed over Rs 800 crore worldwide. She also starred in the action thriller Leo in 2023, which earned just above Rs 600 crore globally.
Talking about her personal life, the actress was rumoured to be dating Thalapathy Vijay. It was reported that the two of them got closer while shooting the 2004 film Ghilli and it affected Vijay's marriage with his wife Sangeetha Sornalingam. However, these speculations soon died down, only to return again recently when the actress shared a mirror selfie with Vijay on his 50th birthday this year on June 22. Some fans speculated that the two of them have been living together, but others said that this is just a promotional stunt to announce Trisha's cameo in Vijay's upcoming sci-fi action film The Greatest of All Time, slated to release on September 5. Trisha and Vijay have stated multiple times that they are just good friends.
Trisha was also rumoured to be dating Rana Daggubati for several years. Their photos and videos together often went viral on social media. The two never talked about their relationship in public, until Rana finally made the big revelation in the sixth season of Koffee With Karan in 2018. When Rana came to the show with Prabhas and SS Rajamouli, his Baahubali co-star and director, Karan asked him about his relationhip status with Trisha. First, Rana dodged the question, but then said, "She has been my friend for a decade. We have been friends for a long time and even dated. But, I guess, things didn't work out." Both Rana and Trisha have maintained silence on why they broke up.
In January 2015, Trisha got engaged to the Chennai-based businessman Varun Manian, but it was only after five months, she announced that she had called off her engagement. In an interview with Chennai Times in 2017, Trisha said the she believes in marriage but doesn't see it as a social need. "I believe in marriage even now. But I don't believe marriage is a social need. Honestly, age is not a matter at all. No one must get married just for the society, as I have seen many people who suffered because of it. We must marry someone out of love, and not for other reasons. If I had met my kind of man when I was 25, I would have married him by now." Trisha still remains single at 41.
