Rourke had gained 30 pounds for his comeback in the Oscar-nominated role in The Wrestler.

Movie hardman Mickey Rourke has been asked to slim down for his role as Russian villain Whiplash in the new Iron Man sequel.

The actor, who gained 30 pounds of muscle to play washed-up grappler Randy 'The Ram' Robinson in The Wrestler, is said to be struggling to lose his beefed-up physique from the 2008 film, reports The Daily Express.

Apparently, Iron Man 2 director Jon Favreau had ordered him to lose the extra flab for the role.

Therefore, according to New York Magazine, the Manhattan-based movie star's trainer is helping him shed the excess weight by putting him on a fast and only allowing him to dine out once a week.
