Preeti Jain had given a 'supari' of Bhandarkar. She has finally been sentenced to three years in jail...

Model and actress Preeti Jain has been sentenced to three years of jail by the Mumbai Sessions court for conspiring to murder filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar. While two people have been acquitted, the court has also sentenced two others, Naresh Pardeshi and Sivaram Das in this case.

The model had accused Bhandarkar of sexual harassment in the name of giving her a role in a film. Hence, Preeti filed a complaint and demanded his arrest.

Preeti had given Arun Gawli, who had become an underworld don in the year 2005, a supari for killing Bhandarkar. Preeti also gave Rs 70000 as advance to Gawli's henchmen for this. Preeti also showed an SMS sent by Bhandarkar as evidence of the crime on the basis on which, the court ordered the case to be run in Sessions Court.

A report of this case was filed in 2006 and around a year later, Bhandarkar was given a clean chit in 2007. Even after that, Preeti did not give up. In 2009, the Andheri court considered the report as incorrect and ordered the investigating officer to file a report again.

Against the order of the Sessions court, Bhandarkar went to the Supreme Court. Thereafter, the Supreme Court had dismissed the order of the sessions court for running a rape case against director Madhur Bhandarkar.
