The new Bhatt babe dismisses allegations of proximity with co-star Tushar Jalota

She made her debut opposite the serial kisser, yet managed to get through the movie without a single lip lock. That in itself can be seen as an achievement, apart from the kudos and brick bats she garnered.

Although Mrinalini Sharma may have steered clear from what could be perceived as ‘controversial’, she also claims to have an open mind towards intimacy issues. “I agree at times kissing scenes do help the narrative. I see no reason why it shouldn’t be done.  However, it can’t be  used to sell your movie. No amount of sex can save any movie,” she explains.

Her jump from ramp to celluloid was with an item number in Prakash Jha’s ‘Apaharan’. Yet few know the real story. “When I was offered the role, it was a cameo appearance along with the song. But the cameo was edited, and what came out was half an item number. Not something I was looking forward to,” she recalls.

Today, she is basking in the comfort zone of the Bhatt camp.  So, does that mean she won’t venture out like other Bhatt prodigies? “The Bhatt’s will always be my mentor. Though I would definitely want to go out and explore better opportunities,” she adds.

Her upcoming movie ‘Showbiz’ may be in the last stages of production, but Mrinalini has already garnered her fair share of gossip in the tinsel town - from a tiff with co-star Shriya Saran to dating actor Tushar Jalota. So with all these rumours doing the rounds, we let her reveal her side of the story. “Shriya and I got along like a house on fire. I think she is a fun girl to work with. As far as Tushar is concerned, I would leave it at ‘no comments’,” ends Mrinalini. And then they say we never give them a chance to clarify!
