Producer-director Akbar Khan is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that his long in the making (almost 4 years) ambitious project, Taj Mahal-An Eternal Love Story, gets a mega reception world over. Touted to be Khan’s magnum opus, based on the legendary love between Emperor Shah Jahan and his wife Mumtaz Mahal, the film will have a world premiere in London towards the end of October.
The film has a multi-star line up of Kabir Bedi, Manisha Koirala, Zulfi Syed, Pooja Batra, Arbaaz Khan and Kim Sharma. Khan is introducing Sonia Jehan (granddaughter of yesteryear Pakistani singer-star Noorhejan) as the Mughal queen. Veteran music composer Naushad has scored the track after a long hiatus. The choreography is by Saroj Khan.
Earlier in the year, Taj Mahal was screened at Cannes Film Festival. The inquiries that followed it made the makers feel that London was a hot market. Khan says, “There is a large population of not only Indians but also Pakistanis and Bangladeshis over there. At some point the three countries had a common affiliation and history, and that’s why they will evince a keen interest.”
The entire cast and crew of the film and special guests from the industry would be present on the occasion. Khan adds, “We want it to be one unforgettable gala event. We will be conceptualizing the entire show with a Mughal theme and atmosphere.” The London premiere would be followed by a special show at Agra for VIPs and another official show in Delhi.
