Chakri's mother and brother claim they own the property and that the tenant (identified as Madhavi) had not been paying rent for the last few months. News reports say that Madhavi showed proof that she has been paying rent by taking out receipts for the rent.

Chakri's mother Vidyavathi was quoted as saying that she had no source of income except for the Rs 15000 she gets as her husband's pension. She has also said that she is paying a housing loan for this property in Ameerpet. She added that she wanted to move into the property once the tenant moves out.

Since the music director's death, Chakri's wife and family have been fighting over this property. As soon as he died, his wife went to the police stating that her mother-in-law and brother were harassing her for the property. Senior film industry members have stepped in and tried to solve the issue. Now more issues over property are coming to the surface again.
