An interview given by Namrata Shirodkar has stirred up controversy in Tollywood. Namrata reportedly gave an interview to an English magazine where she spoke about her husband, superstar Mahesh Babu, and the Telugu film industry.
The former actress stated that she is a Mahesh Babu fan and always has been. To one of the questions asked, she is quoted as stating, "I am an unabashed Mahesh Babu fan. I don't think there is anyone in today's industry who is more talented or better than him. And that's what pushes him to do better. I want our industry to move forward, and I think it always takes a Mahesh to push the envelope at different points in his career. In fact, I watch only Mahesh Babu films."
While the reply seems harmless and shows Namrata's love and support for her husband, what has upset fans is her reply to the question on Mahesh Babu's standing in the industry and his competition. Namrata is quoted as saying, "Mahesh has no competition. He is way, way ahead of his contemporaries. Even when I married him, I thought he was the best, even though there may have been better ranked stars back then."
People on social media have been gone on a tirade over her reply. Fans feel there are many heroes in Tollywood and that Namrata was arrogant in stating Mahesh Babu was better than them all. Namrata has not responded to any of the comments as she is busy touring the village that the actor has adopted for development.
