Vinod Khanna is being conferred with the Dadasaheb Phalke award. Baahubali 2 won the award for best popular film for providing wholesale entertainment.
Sridevi won the best actress award posthumously for Mom. Riddhi Sen bagged the award for Best Actor for his performance in Bengali film Nagarkirtan. Divya Dutta won Best Supporting Actress award for her performance in film Irada. The best supporting actor has been given to Fahad Fazil for Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum.
Newton has been awarded the best Hindi film.
Music maestro AR Rahman has won the best background score for Mom. Water baby has been adjudged the best non-feature film on the year.
Yesudas has been named the best male playback award for "Poy Maranja Kalam" in the movie Viswasapoorvam Mansoor. The award for best female playback award has been given to Shashaa Tirupati for "Vaan" in Kaatru Veliyidai. Best Director award has been given to Jayaraj for Malayalam film Bhayanakam.
This year the jury headed by Shekhar Kapoor had Imtiaz Hussain, Mehboob, Gautami Tadimalla, P Sheshadri, Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury, Ranjit Das, Rajesh Mapuskar, Tripurari Sharma and Rumi Jaffrey as members. The award will be conferred on May 3 by President Ram Nath Kovind.
