Granddaughters Riya Sen and Raima Sen refuse to confirm the authencitiy of the photograph...

Born as Roma Dasgupta, the late Indian actress Suchitra Sen is credited to have worked in a number of Hindi and Bengali films. Her movies with Uttam Kumar are considered classics in the history of Bengali cinema.

Suchitra Sen is credited to have been the first Indian actress to receive an international award at the Moscow International Film Festival in the year 1963 for her role of a disillusioned alcoholic in the film Saptapadi. She was also awarded with the Padma Shri award in India.

However, the actress is known to have become a social recluse from the year 1979 and apparently, she even refused the Dadasaheb Phalke Award which is known to be the highest cinematic honour in India, to remain away from the public eye. For this reason she was often compared to Greta Garbo.

Now, we came across this picture of the actress which has gone viral on social media. While the authenticity of this picture hasn't been confirmed yet, we did send the picture to her granddaughters Riya Sen and Raima Sen for confirmation but none of them reverted to our query.

Reportedly, nobody knew how she (Suchitra Sen) looked after a certain age and even after her death, her family members made sure that none of her pictures are shared with the media. They say, that it was done in order to respect the actress's decision to remain in oblivion. Her medical treatment is also said to have been done in seclusion and secrecy.
