MUMBAI: Actors Rahul Bose and Ayesha Dharkhar will literally hit the streets in a new movie. The duo will be seen sweeping the pathways of Mumbai in Sanjay Jha's third directorial venture, "Mumbai Chakachak".

"You'd be surprised to see how well Rahul and Ayesha, both known for their cosmopolitan personalities, have adapted themselves to their earthy roles. They look as if they were born with brooms," laughs director Sanjay Jha.

"We conducted an intense workshop and the actors were so efficient. Rahul and Ayesha looked very convincing as a 'Marathi manoos' and a 'Bihari girl'," the director said.

In fact, Rahul plays a Dalit in the movie and carries it off like a true 'desi'.

"Mumbai Chakachak" is being made with the active support and participation of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation. "We auditioned around 250 workers from the BMC's cultural wing and chose quite a few. In the film, all the people that you see sweeping the streets of Mumbai with Rahul and Ayesha are municipal workers," the director explained.

Jha said he has tried to make the movie as authentic as possible. "You can imagine how topical 'Mumbai Chakachak' has become going by the theme of a relationship between a Marathi man and a Bihari girl," he said.

Jha had earlier directed two movies. " 'Pran Jaye Par Shaan Na Jaye' for producer Mahesh Manjrekar was a good experience.  But 'Strings' turned out to be a nightmare. It was embroiled in controversies over sadhus and sants (seers).  It's still trapped in a PIL (public interest litigation) in Allahabad (High Court). This time for 'Mumbai Chakachak', I'm so happy to get a producer like Suniel Shetty and Popcorn Entertainment. I know they will make sure the film gets the release it deserves," the director said.
