Though Rahul Dholakia’s new film on terrorism starring Sanjay Dutt and Bipasha Basu is being talked about a lot, the director is on his way to finish another movie.

The film is called Society and is a biting satire on people living in an urban scenario. “I started the film when my forthcoming movie was on its post production level. The film is about a society’s problems and how it affects its residents. And then it moves to the larger picture. The shooting is almost over. We are just finishing two songs,” he says.

When he is releasing two movies at the same time, isn’t there going to be a clash? “We are planning to release it at the end of the year. So, there is a definite gap between the two,” he says.

Shooting it wasn’t an easy task too since it stars many industry veterans like Dimple Kapadia, Om Puri, Sarika, Seema Biswas and others. “Each one of them is a legend in their own right. I would describe the shooting of the film is more about management.

Since they are all great actors and have their own equations with each other, you just need to motivate and keep them happy. You don’t have to tell them how to act. The experience has been of a different kind,” he says.

He made the critically acclaimed Parzania and later shifted to making Bollywood films. It wasn’t an easy task. “Parzania was a different kind of film and its target audience was different too. I had to move to a bigger audience base, so I am making Hindi films.”

However, he doesn’t identify with the idea of melodramatic films. “I don’t think you should take the intelligence of the audience for granted. Everything need not be explained directly; leave something for the audience to absorb themselves,” he ends.
