The media consulting firm Ormax Media has released its report titled Streaming Originals in India: Mid-year Review for the duration of January to June 2024, in which it has shared insignts on the top original series and films that released directly on streaming platforms in India in the first six months of the year.
The report states the 15 most watched Hindi OTT shows in the first half of 2024. With a viewership of 8 million people, Disney+ Hotstar's Lootere and Baahubali: Crown of Blood take the final two spots. Netflix's Maamla Legal Hai is the 13th most watched Hindi web series as it has been watched by 8.1 million people. SonyLIV's Raisinghani vs Raisinghani and Disney+ Hotstar's Karmma Calling have the viewership of 8.5 million and 9.1 million people, respectively.
Amazon miniTV's only entry in the list is Jamnapaar on the 10th spot with 9.2 million people. Netflix's Killer Soup also has the same number of viewers. SonyLIV's Maharani season 3 and Gullak season 4 are watched by 10.2 and 12.1 million people, respectively. The sixth most watched Hindi web series is Disney+ Hotstar's Showtime, which has been watched by 12.5 million people.
The third and fourth season, both released in the first six months of the year, of Disney+ Hotstar's animated series The Legend of Hanuman have a combined viewership of 14.8 million people. Netflix's Kota Factory season 3 is the fourth most watched Hindi web series in the first half of 2024 as it has been watched by 15.7 million people. With 19.5 million views, Amazon Prime Video's Indian Police Force takes the third spot on the list. Netflix's Heeramandi has been watched by 20.3 million people. And the most watched Hindi OTT show in the first six months of 2024 is Amazon Prime Video's Panchayat season 3 as 28.2 million people have watched it, as per the Ormax report.
The Telugu, Tamil, and foreign language shows released from January to June 2024 have less viewership than the third season of Panchayat and hence, the show created by The Viral Fever is the most watched Indian OTT show in the first half of 2024.
