Ramya Krishnan is a well-known actress in the South. The actress recently turned 53 on September 15. The actress is known for her performances in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, and other language films. One of her best performances includes the role of Sivagami which she played in Prabhas, SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali. However, not many that the actress was not the first choice for the movie.
Before Ramya Krishnan, the role was offered to another top actress of that time who has now passed away. She is none other than Sridevi. However, after hearing the demands of the actress, SS Rajamouli dropped the idea of casting her in the movie.
Earlier, in an interview with ABN Telugu, SS Rajamouli had revealed that he first approached Sridevi for the role of Sridevi but she reportedly asked for Rs 10 crore as her fees, a full hotel floor for her family and staff, and 10 flight tickets for them from Mumbai to Hyderabad.
The filmmaker said, “After hearing a series of wishes from her (Sridevi), our team got fed up. We also thought that it would be above our budget to meet her demands. Then we approached Ramya Krishnan and she proved herself (to be) fantastic and we now feel we were lucky that we dropped the idea of having Sridevi in our film.”
Later, while promoting her movie MOM, Sridevi addressed the claims made by the Baahubali team and said that she was hurt by them. The actress said, “But when you hear such things about yourself, you really get hurt. I don’t know if the producer incorrectly told Rajamouli that I made all these demands or there could have been some miscommunication.”
Sridevi passed away after suffering from a cardiac arrest in Dubai. The actress breathed her last at the age of 54 and left the entire entertainment industry in huge shock.
Ramya Krishnan won acclaim for her performance in Baahubali. Helmed by SS Rajamouli, the film also starred Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Tamannaah Bhatia and Sathyaraj, among others. The film went on to be a big hit and broke several box office records.
