Continuing the experimental approach adopted on his previous albums, musician Rahul Sharma’s new album ‘Maya – the illusion’ taps into the delusional lives that people lead. “It’s an unusual album where I’ve used the santoor to convey the sensuality of the goddess Mahamaya who attracts humans towards the material pleasures,” explains Rahul.

Collaborating with playback singer Sunidhi Chauhan on the debut track ‘Maya’ was an interesting experience. “Her voice has an element of sensuality which completely goes with the concept of the track. It’s also very versatile and I admire the quality of her voice and the kind of emotions she can bring out.”

Rahul confesses that he has always had a philosophical bent of mind and has entwined elements of spirituality in his other albums. “I have been reading the Osho and Zen texts and have also learnt yoga. Spending hours with my instrument becomes a form of meditation for me,” he adds.

Though busy collaborating with international musician Richard Clayderman on the second part of their album ‘The Confluence’, Rahul says he will now be touring the country to promote ‘Maya – the illusion’.
