Prahlad Kakkar’s film division Genesis Features is now all set to make Hindi feature films with a global appeal. The company plans to produce four feature films annually of which Prahlad may direct some, while a few may be directed by others. “I have around 60 talented directors who have now all learnt their craft under me when they were working with me. I have personally trained them and know exactly who is capable of what. I just have to call them and if nothing, for old time’s sake they would direct a film for me,” Prahlad says.

The films to be produced are ‘Bitter Rain’, ‘Abhimanyu’, ‘Mere Mehboobs’ (yes, you heard that right - though there is no Mallika Sherawat in it!) and ‘Raju Bangkok’.

‘Bitter Rain’ is scripted by Delhi-based fashionista Feroze Gujral and will be directed by Sujat Saudagar. The film deals with power games in the country’s capital and will star Manoj Bajpai, Sonu Sood and Vidya Malvade. A cop thriller, ‘Abhimanyu’ is scripted by Uzer Khan and Prahlad, who will also be directing the film. ‘Raju Bangkok’ is also scripted by Prahlad with Javed Jafferi.

A political satire, ‘Mere Mehboobs’ will be directed by Prahlad. The film is based on the plane hijacking hoax of October 2001 when Shahnawaz Hussain was the Civil Aviation Minister of India. His wish-list for this film? “I would love to cast Dharmendra, Prem Chopra, Jagdeep and Asrani in this film as I need four senior actors for it.”

And who will play Shahnawaz Hussain? “He is out of a job so maybe he can play himself,” laughs Prahlad.
