Kannada actor Prem will be shunning his boy next door image for Venkatesa Local, an underworld saga…

With his film Charminar being under production and Chandra about to go on the floors, actor Prem has his hands full. With news now pouring in that Prem has signed one more film, the year is only expected to get busier for this much in demand actor.

The actor has given the nod for first time director Indra’s Venkatesa Local. “Indra has previously worked as a music director and will be debuting as director with this flick. The script that centres itself around underworld goons appealed to me as my character comes with several shades. It is the story of an innocent man who is forced to join the underworld. You will see me sporting two-three different looks even. The film is sure to appeal to the masses,” says Prem.

Deepa Sanidhi, who is the muse of all the A-list directors, or Priyamani will be roped in to play the leading lady. Bhavana, Rangayana Raghu and Ravi Kale will be seen in pivotal roles. The shooting for this film is expected to commence in September. “Currently the re-recording work of my film Shatru is on. I am also shooting for Charminar. Next I will begin work on Chandra and then start shooting for Venkatesa Local,” Prem adds.

Speaking of Chandra, ask him if rumours that actor Ramya, who was initially roped in to do the film, wanted him to be replaced by another hero, bothers him and he says, “Everyone has their opinion so I don’t wish to make a comment in this regard. But now Shriya Saran is doing the film and this works in our favour as Chandra will be a bi-lingual and she is very popular in the Tamil industry.”

Prem is said to be sporting a six pack in this film as well. He is also undergoing training in kalaripayattu. Chandra is a film that traces the love story between a princess and a common man. Shatru on the other hand is an action flick that will see Prem playing a cop. Charminar will see him play a lover boy.

With variety on his platter, the actor hopes for the year ahead to bring him luck and success and so do we.
