After staying away from TV for over a couple of years, (he was last seen in Left Right Left) Puneet Issar best remembered as Duryodhan of BR Chopra’s Mahabharat is back with not one but two shows. He will soon be seen in Bani – Ishq Da Kalma playing grandfather to NRI Parmeet who will eventually marry Bani. Puneet will be essaying a rich zamindar who in public projects one image and is the exact opposite within the confines of his home.
He shows himself as a man who upholds women’s rights and respects them but in reality believes they are meant only to do household chores. Says Puneet, “My character has a tough exterior but is soft inside. He’s emotional like Amrish Puri’s character is in Mohabbat and Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge.”
The veteran actor will also be seen in the latest version of Mahabharat, this time palying the role of Parshuram. “As Duryodhan there was a different aura and personality. God was kind and the role became immortal. Now after 25 years I am getting an opportunity to do Mahabharat again as Parshuram and I hope to lend a new dimension to the character, which will again be memorable,” he says adding that his track will not be restricted to three-four episodes, but be a major part of the story.
