The news of Pratyusha Bannerjee, best remembered for her role as Anandi in Balika Vadhu, committing suicide has shocked the industry. Actors, who have worked with her as well as those who knew her socially, cannot believe that Pratyusha who was a lively person could have ended her life.
A source close to the actress points out the changes on Rahul’s Instagram profile. “The day she died, when I went to Rahul’s Instagram profile which Pratyusha had tagged, there were no pictures. He had deleted all of them. The next day when I visited his profile he had made it private. There is another profile in his name, which has pictures, but the one Pratyusha had tagged him in obviously is the original one.”
Rahul had done a show Mata Ki Chowki a decade ago after which he wasn’t seen in any other show till Power Couple. “He wanted to make money by hook or by crook. Sometime ago, he had contacted me saying he was producing a film, but since I knew the way he worked I did not meet him,” says an actor.
A TV actress who didn’t wish to be named, “What does that tell you about Rahul? Her body was still in the hospital and he was more concerned about clearing his Instagram history? He was only thinking of himself. Maybe he is not guilty of any crime but changes on social media, running away with her phone, all point to him hiding something.”
As for her financial problems, a source says, “Pratyusha had taken a car loan and had paid them an installment in December. When the collection guy came with others in January she was alone in the house with her mother, so Dolly Bindra, along with the local corporator went there to help. Pratyusha was a strong girl, she didn’t appear to have financial problems. She was not the type of girl who would hang herself.”
