The actor reunited with his South co-star for an ad; insiders claim that it might just be the beginning of a bigger project.

Actor Shah Rukh Khan managed a coup by roping in South superstar Rajinikanth for a cameo in recent superhero flick. It seems it is now actor Aamir Khan’s turn to do the same — by joining with Rajini for a noble cause. However,   it’s more like a reunion for the actors, who once co-starred in Aatank Hi Aatank in 1995, which was said to be based on the Hollywood classic Godfather.

The Health Ministry has reportedly planned a special awareness advertisement campaign about the malnutrition of children, in view of the recent spate of deaths of children in rural areas of India. It’s also a part of the ongoing drive to create awareness for child health in India for which, buzz has it, they have roped in Rajini and Aamir as the two heavy-weight stars. Interestingly, if true, Rajini, who till date has never done a commercial will be shooting for an ad film after almost two decades.

“They are part of the awareness campaign and will be seen in an ad film for the same. We know this will be Rajini Sir’s first commercial in about 20 years. He says that he’s only doing the ad since it is for a good cause,” says a source. Rajini had done a similar kind of awareness campaign for the eradication of polio during the 80s.

“Rajini doesn’t endorse any product, but when he was told that it was an ad film for an awareness programme, he readily agreed. Aamir too agreed instantly on learning that Rajini Sir is also part of the campaign,” adds the source.

However, insiders say that this might just trigger off a longer association between Aamir and the South superstar. “There are a lot of other things that Aamir is planning to do, and has not discussed with anyone.  His close aides are saying that Aamir is now planning something big with Rajinikanth and yes, he wants to go beyond just a cameo in his film,” says the source.
