Guess what one of Ram Gopal Varma’s protégé is up to now? Sourabh Usha Narang, who directed ‘Vastu Shastra’ for the filmmaker, is now writing a book on him.
The volume is going to be in a question answer format. The venture, discloses Narang began around two months back.
"It is interesting for me as a young director to probe into the mind of a director as fascinating as Ram Gopal Varma, someone who has proved his potential with such consistency."
He adds, "The book would be of great significance to those interested in cinema and wanting to know details why a scene was shot in a particular way. It will be a film to film account."
The book will encapsulate all RGV films, including the ones in Telugu. The author feels that since he has worked with Ramu only on one of his films, he will be able to both objectively and subjectively review the filmmaker’s oeuvre.
The book will be publid by Penguin and is expected to be launched in mid 2006.
Before ‘Vastu Shastra’, Narang earned acclaim for directing a research-based reality show ‘Haqeeqat’ for Sahara. The Mahesh Bhatt hosted programme focussed on human rights violations. Impressed by seeing just a 10-minute reel of the show, Ramu offered , ‘Vaastu Shastra’, a Sushmita Sen starrer, to Narang.
