Ranveer Singh loves taking risks. Whether it is with his words, actions, choice of films or his dressing. And luckily it has paid off for him. But the big question is: Will he be able to pull off playing a brother and then husband to Priyanka Chopra? In Zoya Akhtar's Dil Dhadakne Do, he will play her bhaiyya and then her saiyaan in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Bajirao Mastani. Though Priyanka doesn't play the title role, her character is every bit as vital to the plot as that of Mastani which will be essayed by Deepika Padukone. Earlier this year, PC played the role of his girlfriend in Gunday.
Says an industry insider, "It happens. Given that we have so few actors and actresses to pick from, this is bound to happen. It has happened before as well. Waheeda Rehman has played the role of Amitabh Bachchan's wife in Kabhi Kabhie (1976) and his mother in Trishul (1978). Even Rakhi has played his heroine in many films like Kabhie Kabhie and Barsaat Ki Ek Raat and then his mother in Shakti. The only difference being that these actresses played the role of Big B's mom much after they played his leading lady. If they'd played his mom first, then the audiences would have probably rejected their pairing. However, PC will first be seen as Ranveer's sister and then his wife. So it could be tricky."
No hero for PC!
In her next film -- Mary Kom -- Priyanka won't have a hero. Says a source close to producer Sanjay Leela Bhansali, "After Mary Kom, Priyanka won't need A-lister hero. She is the hero of the film. What a punch she has delivered! Her performance is on par with Farhan Akhtar in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. After Mary Kom, Priyanka would be a household hero."
While a schedule of Mary Kom was on in Dharmasala last week, producer Sanjay Bhansali dropped in on location. He was blown away by her dedication to the character. So impressed was he that he has cast her in a stellar role in his directorial venture Bajirao Mastani.

After Mary Kom and Bajiroa Mastani, SLB is planning to cast Priyanka in another heroine-centric film in 2015.
