Kalaipuli Thanu, who is producing Ilayathalapathy Vijay's upcoming film with director Atlee, announced on Wednesday that the title of the film would be revealed at 4 pm. Sure enough, the title was revealed by Vijay's through his official Twitter account.
The film's title has been under much debate over the last few weeks. Now it has finally been revealed that the title is Theri.
There were reportedly many titles that were under consideration, including Theri, Vetri and Thuppakki 2. Now, with the film title being revealed, the first look is also out. The direcvtor of the film also tweeted the first look. Vijay seems to play a super stylish cop in the movie. And there are whispers he may be playing a double role as well. The images that were revealed today shows the actor in a serious mode like someone who is out to get bad guys.

The fierce competition between Vijay and Ajith fans is well known. There was talk that since Ajith's movie was named Vedhalam in reference to Vijay's tribe in his latest film Puli, the film's title Theri is derived from Ajith's saying 'Therikavidalamaaa' in his film.

Vijay 59 or Theri is being directed by Atlee and stars Vijay with actresses Samantha and Amy Jackson in lead roles. Ilayathalapathy is currently shooting for the film in Goa. Fans are already making the title and first look trend on social media.
