Film: Addhuri (Kannada)
Director: AP Arjun
Cast: Radhika Pandit, Dhruva Sarja
Ratings: ***1/2
The title card reads story, screenplay, dialogues and lyrics by AP Arjun and you wonder how the movie will unfold given that it’s just one person who has managed all the departments. But the opening scene of this youthful and romantic flick is good enough to convince you of the multi-tasking ability of this talented and promising director.
After delivering a hit like Ambari, Arjun is back with Addhuri, a complete entertainment package.
The story revolves around lovers-turned- friends, Arjun and Poorna. A misunderstanding between the two college-goers threatens to hamper their near perfect relationship and we will leave you to find out the why and what of it as the film is definitely worth a one time watch. The story is predictable but what makes it appealing all the same is the charm and energy that the lead pair brings with them.
Dhruva Sarja, who is paired opposite a versatile actor like Radhika Pandit, in fact holds his own and endears himself to you with the passing of each scene. Be it action, comedy or romance, the actor gets everything right. He, in fact could not have asked for a better launch pad and definitely promises to only get better with every movie he does. Apart from the performances, Arjun’s screenplay also works in the favour of the film.
His dialogues are also entertaining. That the story does not load itself with a host of supporting characters is the other plus point.
Harikrishna’s songs, especially Amate…, is sure to find a place in your mp3 players and that’s if it already hasn’t. Arjun’s lyrics are also meaningful and fun. Cinematography is no less impressive. The film maintains a good pace in the first half, but tends to drag a bit in the later half but this shouldn’t stop you from taking your friends or family for the film. You don’t even have to be a die-hard romantic to watch the film, so simply go for it!
