Recently, Rishi Kapoor shot for a special appearance for Nandita Das's upcoming directorial, Manto, which is a biography of controversial writer Saadat Hasan Manto. Yesterday, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who plays the title role in the film, took to Twitter to spill the beans when thanking the veteran actor for sharing screen space with him. "It was indeed a pleasure sharing the screen with Rishi Kapoor sir, what an amazing energy you possess even now," he wrote.
Kapoor responded to his praise, saying, "Thank you Nawaz! Did that bit for Nandita Das and Manto the title role, played by you. We will have fun working together in the future."
The film also features Shabana Azmi, Javed Akhtar and Feryna Wazir in special appearance and Tahir Raj Bhasin and Rasika Duggal in prominent roles. When Nandita was scripting the film last year, she was keen to cast the late veteran actor, Om Puri, as a crucial character in the film. However, the actor passed away in January 2017, before the film went on floors. It is believed that Rishi Kapoor is now playing that role.
