Radio Jockey Rashmi Ramakrishna, popularly known as Rapid Rashmi, makes debut in Sandalwood by playing a lead role in Namak Haram. Rashmi, known for her quick and witty answers to her fans’ queries, is also very quick in answering about her hopes on Namak Haram. “I did my best during the shooting of Namak Haram. Now it is up to the Kannada audiences to accept or reject it. I hope Kannada audience will accept and encourage me as a heroine,’’ says Rashmi.

Namak Haram, as its title indicates, is a film that revolves around love, hate and betrayal. Generally, heroines will think twice before accepting a film to make  debut in Kannada films. How come Rashmi, whose job is to discuss various issues, including Kannada films, with radio listeners, has accepted this film? “I was hesitant when director  Nagaraj Peenya approached me. I thought he was joking but he was serious about having me as heroine in Namak Haram. Then I thought why not I utilize this opportunity. So, I accepted it,’’ narrates Rashmi.

It may be recalled that Rashmi, during her childhood,  had nourished an ambition of becoming a playback singer. She even learnt vocal for 16 years to realize her ambition. She ended up as a radio jockey and not a playback singer despite having an opportunity to be part of chorus.

Rashmi is paired opposite Mahesh, the brother of Golden Star Ganesh, in Namak Haram which is scheduled for release on Friday. “I am very excited to reach my fans through silver screen. All these days I used to reach them over the radio. I think it is a good opportunity for me to reach out more and more people,’’ Rashmi signs off with lot of confidence.
