Rumours of Salman Khan interfering in girlfriend Katrina Kaif’s latest flick, ‘Welcome’ are rife but director Anees Bazmee is unperturbed.

“There have been rumours about Salman being unhappy with Katrina wearing a short skirt and all that, but those are only talks. Salman is a good friend. I am sure he would have come to me if he had any problem,” clarifies Anees adding, “I have worked with Salman in ‘No Entry’.

When he didn’t interfere in that film, where is the question of him butting in ‘Welcome’? He did come on the sets once but that was because I wanted to narrate a story to him. He had lunch with the rest of the cast, and there was no problem at all. I don’t know why all this talk has started.”

Anees also reveals why he hasn’t worked with his one-time favourite Ajay Devgan in his last few projects (including ‘Deewangi’). “Ajay and I are almost like brothers, but he has also been busy with other projects.

Also in my last two films, ‘No Entry’ and now ‘Welcome’, there was no concrete role for him. However I do have a nice subject in mind that I would love to make with both Ajay and Kajol. It’s a love story.”

The film-maker is also directing Vipul Shah’s production ‘Singh is Kingg’, which also features Akshay Kumar and Katrina. “I have worked with Akshay on both these projects for the first time. He has really come into his own as a comedy actor. He and Katrina share a sparkling chemistry that reflects very well on screen.”

Coming back to ‘Welcome’, Anees says, “Here, I wanted to take a funny look at the mafia. I cannot make a ‘Sarkar’ or a ‘Company’. Nevertheless, the mafia is always looked at so seriously, that I wanted to give it a different perspective,” he ends.
