The first time Rajshri Thakur aka Saloni appeared on screen, the audience just adored her. However, it seems the adulation has faded with time. Saat Phere, Saloni Ka Safar is all set to end this month due to its poor TRPs.

The soap gained immense popularity due to its of-beat theme of dark complexion. At one point, the TRPs exceeded five making Rajshri Thakur and her co-star in the serial Sharad Kelkar popular among the masses.

However, with time the show lost much of its sheen and now the TRPs have gone down to as low as two. To pep it up, the channel resorted to the most obvious trick — taking a generation leap.

The lead actors even got fed up and quit eventually, both citing different reasons. A source says, “Sharad was tired of Saat Phere and quit to explore something better creatively. Moreover, he did not want to play a teenager’s father. Rajshri, on the other hand, wanted a month’s break after working day in and day out for the show.”

After the leap, the kids are shown as grown-ups, and the storyline focused on the next generation. Though the show introduced Saloni’s daughters — Saawri and Shweta — all the efforts were in vain because by them much of the plot had gone haywire.

Shikha Vij, creative director of the show says, “The channel has given us time till the end of May. After the generation leap, we have tried our best to deliver. I think the channel and the audience would be able to tell you why the show is coming to an end.”
