Sanjeev Bhaskar is all geared up about his new role of an Indian doctor in a new BBC drama.

Bhaskar will play Dr Prem Patel in the five part series, which is set in the 1960s in a small Welsh village.

"I'm just about to start filming on a five-part drama for the BBC where I play an Indian doctor who ends up in a small Welsh mining village in 1963.

"Part of the fun of this is his take on Britain and this little Welsh mining village in the 60s and their take on him, so it's kind of fun," The Mirror quoted him as saying at the launch of Garden Party To Make A Difference, a festival held at Prince Charles' official London residence in September.

The show, titled The Indian Doctor, is being produced by Rondo Media and is part of the BBC's celebrations of the 1960s.
