Bollywood has been gushing about Shah Rukh Khan's Fan. Everyone who thought Dilwale was a knockout for SRK, they seemed to have taken their words back. The film, which revolves around an interesting tale of vendetta- the revenge of a look-alike fan on his favourite superstar who treats him badly has been showered with praises from the industry, critics and audiences alike. And the result is evident in the film's box office figures.
Having the widest release of the year in around 3500 screens all over India along with an additional 1100 screens overseas, the film saw a brilliant start at the Box Office. Especially for a thriller, the collections on day one are huge. It's at par with SRK's magnum opus films like Dilwale.
As per early estimates, Fan has raked in around Rs 20 crore nett in India itself, which is a brilliant figure, considering the genre. Usually, thrillers don't have too much of a recall value but with SRK's monumental screen presence helping the film, Fan has turned out to be a successful box office proposition. The positive word of mouth will only help the film in the days to come and if the film continues this winning streak, it might as well record an opening weekend of over Rs 60 crore.
With this, Fan has now overtaken Akshay Kumar's Airlift which had a decent opening of around RS 12.35 crore. Now, Fan has also turned out to be the biggest opener of the year so far. Will it maintain its ground? If it does, it's all set to zoom into the Rs 100 crore and Rs 150 crore club soon.
