Producer Siddarth Kumar Tewary, who made soaps like  Phulwa and Navya has been quietly shooting the mythological serial Mahabharat. Earlier, there was buzz about the serial being made, then scrapped but finally the show has gone on floors. The first shoot schedule happened on the outskirts of Jaisalmer where they canned a war sequence.

However, everything is being kept under wraps and actors have been told not to spill the beans. It was supposed to take the Satyamev Jayte time slot but the show wasn’t ready. Now, sources say it is likely to be a daily. More than three years of research and pre-production has gone into the show which is said to be made on a huge canvas.

The show is expected to go on air after three  months as a sufficient bank needs to be built for the same. The star cast has a mix of newcomers and a few known faces. If sources are to be believed Shaheer Sheikh is playing Arjun and Deblina Chatterjee, last seen in Sajda Tere Pyaar Mein is playing Draupadi. Shaheer played the lead role in Navya. Apparently, since he was signed for Mahabharat, the actor did not take up any other shows.
